Patch (Notevember 2021, #29)
Last week left me all verklempt
Let’s catch up and restart
Why not make a new attempt
To patch up two broken hearts
Last week left me all verklempt
Let’s catch up and restart
Why not make a new attempt
To patch up two broken hearts
Peaks and valleys, rivers daunting
But the greatest I have seen
Leaves all other miracles wanting;
‘Tis the “gold among the green”
Say what you will, I doubt there’s monsters in these parts
Down here, I’ve found nothing more alive than bits of quartz
Dear
I hope this finds you well
I promised I would write
That plan has sadly failed
I have made a mess
Something soft in the center
Something sweet, like a chocolate praline?
Something quite accidental
How exciting is something unseen!
Pull the words out of my mouth
Like broken teeth
I know when it all went south
And gave me grief
People tell me it gets better…
Don’t worry, I’ll be fine
In the forest, on my own
I will walk beneath the pine
Feeling like this place is all mine
Pumpkins on your porch…
