Dangerous (Notevember 2023, #25)

The moonlight glistened on her skin
And droplets hanging off her chin
Her lips stopped short of rictus grin
Just half a smile would show

The water was a crystal clear
And yet, the men who did draw near
Would stare at her, but never peer
Into the depths below

The girl need feel my curse no more
If only one would stay ashore
But each time, like the one before
They came to claim the bride

She was but a thread as I spun the yarn
To snare the suitors in her tarn
She could not speak a word to warn
the ones who failed, and died –

For each one I laughed and I laughed,
and she cried.
