Why does the willow weep, my friend?
Why does the willow weep?
Its roots are not so deep, my friend
Right under us they creep
So when you lie and you pretend
And say you did not cause my end
The secret that you keep, my friend
Has robbed me of my sleep
Now I have earthen pillow, friend
And I have fed the willow, friend
So in the gale and billow, friend
We do not break, we only bend
In time, you’ll know the signs we send
You’ve sown, and you shall reap
So does the willow weep, my friend
So does the willow weep.
